Yes, there is! We recently welcomed a very prestigious guest to our Ipswich Head Office.
We were delighted to be contacted by Dr Daniel Poulter MP’s office, asking if he could visit our Head Office in Ipswich. Dr Poulter had got wind of our 50 years in business and as our local MP, wanted to come and talk to us about our history and what the future holds for Watson & Hillhouse. After a meeting with our CEO and Chairman – Robin Watson and Managing Director, Phillip Bell, Dr. Daniel Poulter was shown around our office, Workshop and Yard and introduced to the team.
We were able to show him some of the plant that we hire out to all sorts of projects across the UK and overseas. We talked about some of the exciting projects we’ve been involved in recently, including HS2 and the London Gateway. And also, some of the local projects both recently and historically, including the Lowestoft Gull Wing Bridge (2023) and Orwell Bridge back in 1981. We also talked about the impact of Brexit and the current trading conditions in the UK, Europe and further afield.
We then took Dr. Daniel Poulter for a walk through our offices and showed him our impressive stock of parts that we keep onsite for both our own use and our customers. There was also the opportunity to introduce him to some of our longest serving staff.
