We are all aware that a construction site can be a dangerous place to work. The Health and Safety Executive reported that in 2022/23 there were 45 workers killed in work related accidents in construction. 20 of these deaths involved individuals being struck by a moving vehicle.
As technology improves and with our customer’s requirements ever-changing, we are always on the look-out for ways to improve our offering. With this in mind, we have installed Safety Shield to two of our excavators. Safety Shield is an AI human form recognition safety system and AI collision avoidance system with a 99.6% accuracy rate. Developed specifically for the construction industry, the system uses AI technology to detect human presence in the excavator’s working area and alerts the driver to anyone in the detection zone. This upgrade to our equipment has proved popular with our customers and we will now roll it out across our fleet. This system alongside our stringent health and safety processes and training, ensure that our employees and customer’s safety remains in safe hands.
