Back in the Spring, we said farewell to Neil Davey, our longest-serving employee, as he retired.
Joining Watson & Hillhouse in 1979, Neil started as an apprentice engineer in our Ipswich workshop before moving to our North West depot to run the northern operation. In 1993, Neil moved back to Ipswich to head up the hire department, and here he remained. Neil has seen many changes over the years, with the transition from air and diesel hammers to hydraulically driven equipment, being instrumental in the introduction of the noise and vibration-free pile pressing machines, as well as the enormous changes in health and safety. There’s very little about the piling and foundation industry that Neil doesn’t know and his knowledge of the Kowan Still Worker is second to none.
Scott Double has now assumed the reins of the Ipswich hire department. Whilst, Kieran Doggett, who joined us in 2021, has been working alongside Neil to learn as much as he can from Neil’s encyclopaedia of knowledge and has assumed the number two role.
We would like to thank Neil for his 45 years of service, he will be sorely missed. We wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement!
